Welcome to Round 2 of the 2011 Formula 1 season – the Petronas Malaysia Grand Prix at the Sepang International Circuit, Sepang. The 3.44 mile track is the first purpose-built race venue of this season and as circuit designs go, it is certainly one of Hermann Tilke’s better efforts. Felipe Massa was born in Sao Paulo (Brazil) 25 April, 1981. Like most F1 drivers his passion was racing karts as a youngster – his Father, Luiz Antonio, had high hopes for him when he put Felipe, aged 8, in a go-kart – apparently Felipe was a natural and came fourth in his first event, the Paulista micro-kart champion ship in 1990. I guess Fernando has a lot to thank his sister for – it’s a well known fact that when Fernando was just three his father made a kart for eight year old Lorena (“but she’s a girl” you could hear Fernando muttering). Lorena apparently took one look at it and went back to her dolls. And so it was that the two-time WDC title holder’s career started. Born Fernando Alonso Díaz on 29 July 1981 in Oviedo, Spain, he was just seven years old when he entered his first races in karting in 1988 and won all eight. In the early 90s
